We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a 1-year postdoc position to commence 1 October 2023.
The candidate will join the Frølund lab and the position offers a dynamic and multi-disciplinary project in a team focused on medicinal chemistry research related to chemical small molecule inducers of dimerization.
Information on the department can be found at: www.drug.ku.dk
Our research
The Frølund Group is highly international and includes postdocs, PhD students, and master students. The overall goal of the research is to develop molecular probes and novel methodologies to obtain insight into identity, localization, function, therapeutic potential of target receptors/transporters/enzymes with neuroprotection in focus. All the projects are interdisciplinary, building on international and national collaborations. With a platform in medicinal chemistry, our projects bridges with molecular pharmacology, computational and biostructural chemistry. The lab offers a highly interdisciplinary work environment. In the group we value social interaction, openness, and teamwork, with room for ambition and scientific excitement.
Your job
The specific postdoc project will be part of a larger project aimed to develop a platform for targeted modulation of phosphorylation. This will be pursued by development of chemical small molecule inducers of dimerization enabling proximity for a dysregulated protein and an effector enzyme rescuing the dysregulated phosphorylated state. Your tasks will involve structure-based design, organic synthesis, and biochemical assessment. This entails a curiosity for science and an ability to interact with both internal and external collaborators. In addition to doing research, it is expected that you supervise students and engage in departmental teaching according to existing norms (currently 80h/year)
