Consultancy in paediatrics combined with a clinical professorship in paediatrics with special focus on sleep in neuropaediatric patients

A clinical position as consultant of paediatrics at the Department of paediatric and adolescent medicine at Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev and Gentofte is open for appointment from as soon as possible.



The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of paediatrics with special focus on sleep in neuropaediatric patients at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.



It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

About the department The Department of Paediatrics has round 255 employees including 36 senior doctors and 25-30 doctors in training. It is one of the three largest paediatric departments in Denmark

The department is divided into 5 different sections: A neonatal ward with 20 beds, a 5-days bedward with 14 beds, which focuses on child abuse and functional conditions, a third bedward of 22 beds, and ambulatory functions with round 17,000 visits per year and 10,000 virtual contacts, finally a very busy emergency ward with round 15,000 visits per year and an out-off-hours emergency clinic for minor conditions with 10,000-12,000 visits per year.

Clinical functions and focus areas of the department The Department of Paediatrics has a wide variation in types of patients and subspecialties. Special emphasis is in Allergies and Asthma, Endocrinology including childhood diabetes, and Neurology, but also emergency paediatrics and other general subspecialties are represented.

We have a long tradition of research and pre- and postgraduate medical education. We participate in clinical training for medical students in a 4-week turn three times every term, in all about 75 students per year.

Clinically and research-wise we emphasize the importance of collaborating with others both within our own area, interdisciplinary, national, and international.



Research and teaching With the new position as consultant in Neuropaediatrics and clinical professor of Paediatrics the Department of Paediatric and adolescent medicine wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.



Qualifications Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Paediatrics with documentation for subspecialisation in paediatric neurology.



Conditions In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Copenhagen University Hospital - Department of paediatric and adolescent medicine.



Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.



As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the Department of paediatric and adolescent medicine. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of Department of paediatric and adolescent medicine, Copenhagen University Hospital – Marianne Sjølin Frederiksen.
