A clinical position as consultant at the Paediatric Department at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital is open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a 10-year position as clinical professor of Paediatrics at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
With this new position the Department of Paediatrics, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Paediatrics have round 255 employees including 36 senior doctors and 25-30 doctors in training. It is one of the three largest paediatric departments in Denmark
The department is divided into 5 different sections: A neonatal ward with 20 beds, a 5-days bedward with 14 beds, which focuses on child abuse and functional conditions, a third bedward of 22 beds, and ambulatory functions with round 17,000 visits per year and 10,000 virtual contacts, finally a very busy emergency ward with round 15,000 visits per year and an out-off-hours emergency clinic for minor conditions with 10,000-12,000 visits per year.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
The Department of Paediatrics has a wide variation in types of patients and subspecialties. Special emphasis is in Allergies and Asthma, Endocrinology including childhood diabetes and neurology, but also emergency paediatrics and other general subspecialties are represented.
We have a long tradition of research and pre- and postgraduate medical education. We participate in clinical training for medical students in a 4-week turn three times every term, in all round 75 students per year
Clinically and research-wise we emphasize the importance of collaborating with others both within our own area, interdisciplinary, national and international.
Research and teaching
With the new position as consultant and clinical professor of Paediatrics the Department of Paediatrics wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
The department has a long- and well-established tradition of research, especially in the areas of diabetes and endocrinology, allergy and asthma, as well as neurology.
We have an inspiring research environment with several part-time or full-time young and senior researchers, including Ph.D. students and post doc fellows.
The department publish more than 75 scientific papers each year
Recently we have strengthened our collaboration with Steno Diabetic Center Copenhagen including several part time senior doctors working clinically and research-wise in both departments.
We value teaching and learning at all levels very high, and emphasize the importance of educating high performing doctors at all levels.
Qualifications
We are looking for an outstanding, experienced clinician and researcher with an innovative mindset to continue the research profile and teaching profile of the department.
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Paediatrics, and have documented clinical, teaching and research profile in Paediatrics. An international research education commenced or acquired will be an advantage.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the department of Paediatrics. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the department of Paediatrics. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the Department of Paediatrics, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital.
