As Project Director – Design & Delivery you play a central role in shaping the successful delivery of the General Hospital Building at New Bispebjerg Hospital. Leading the Design Management Office (DMO), Construction Management Office (CMO), and the Commissioning, ITML & Activation functions, you ensure that design, construction, and operational readiness progress hand in hand. Reporting to the Senior Project Director, you will guide a diverse team of specialists and external consultants—aligning vision, coordination, and execution across a complex portfolio of work packages.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Integrated Delivery
- Provide strategic leadership across DMO, CMO, and Commissioning, ITML & Activation functions.
- Lead senior managers and establish accountability frameworks across all functions.
- Ensure seamless coordination between design, construction, and commissioning activities across multiple work packages (Structure, Facade, MEP, Fit-Out).
- Drive alignment between design intent, construction execution, and operational readiness through integrated planning and decision-making structures.
- Manage contractual relationships with design consultants, contractors, and suppliers across multiple work packages.
- Protect the client's commercial position through effective contract administration, dispute resolution, and arbitration proceedings management.
- Oversee change management processes and optimise value through effective procurement strategies.
- Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Facilitate collaboration between international design teams and Danish construction practices.
- Establish performance frameworks to track progress against time, cost, quality, and safety targets.
- Provide regular reporting to senior management on delivery status and mitigation strategies.
- Identify and manage delivery risks across all project phases.
- Implement proactive mitigation strategies and ensure effective issue resolution processes.
- Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards, technical requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Coordinate commissioning, testing, and handover activities to ensure operational readiness.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, construction management, or related fields.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in major construction delivery, with at least 5 years in senior management roles.
- Experience leading multiple functional departments simultaneously within matrix organisations.
- Experience managing projects through contractual disruption, termination, or organisational turnaround.
- Demonstrated capability in dispute resolution, claims management, and arbitration proceedings.
- Experience managing complex multi-package projects valued over DKK 1 billion.
- Experience coordinating international design consultants within local regulatory frameworks (Danish experience advantageous).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Danish language skills highly desirable.
- Experience in healthcare or other complex building projects preferred.
- Strategic thinker with strong operational delivery focus.
- Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to anticipate problems and make strong, timely decisions.
- Results-oriented with attention to detail and quality.
- Adaptable and resilient in managing complex project challenges.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions will be in accordance with applicable collective agreements, with the possibility of negotiating supplements based on qualifications.
The workplace is located at Bispebjerg Hospital, Bispebjerg Bakke, 2400 Copenhagen NV.
Working hours are 37 hours per week, including lunch breaks.
