Copenhagen Infrastructure Service Company (CISC) – a service provider working exclusively for the global fund management company Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), is currently looking for an ESG Project Advisor to ensure project-level ESG implementation in our Legal, ESG, Risk and Compliance Team in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The role

You will join a highly motivated international group of best-in-class colleagues with advanced experience in investments in energy and infrastructure assets. The Legal, ESG, Risk and Compliance team has direct impact on the long-term growth of CIP and works closely with other local and global teams within CIP including the Investment teams, Investor Relations team, and technical and project teams around the world.

As a Project ESG Advisor your core responsibility will be to structure and advise CIP’s investment management team on specific asset- and investment-level HSE and ESG initiatives across CIP’s portfolio.

Key responsibilities will consist of:

  • Assess (on an ongoing basis) compliance of assets with CIP’s specific ESG standards and advise on next steps if an issue or trend is identified
  • Advise assets on specific ESG incident response and prevention (e.g., in case of safety/environmental/regulatory incident)
  • Assist with facilitating strategic asset-specific sustainability initiatives on-site across CIP’s portfolio (e.g., waste reduction, decommissioning plans, supplier engagement, H&S programs)
  • Support the Head of ESG in advising the investment team on specific pre-investment due diligence issues (e.g., during contractual negotiations, specific procurement requirements)
  • Train the investment management team on key actions relating to ESG that need to be taken (e.g., ‘what to watch for’ and ‘what to do if…’)
  • Close interaction and collaboration with the local portfolio companies and project partners to deliver ESG projects
  • Advise assets which are moving from development to construction and from construction to operations on optimal project-level ESG organizational structures and management systems.

We look for the following in a candidate

You are holding relevant qualifications in ESG and ideally having several years (approx. 5 – 10) of experience with project-level implementation of HSE programs and other ESG initiatives on infrastructure/construction projects. Besides this we hope that you have experience in delivering sustainability initiatives (e.g., H&S programs, contractor ESG engagement strategies) and knowledge on how to respond and advise on HSE issues.

More specifically:

  • Knowledge of best practice implementation procedures of ESG topics (e.g., HSE, waste reduction)
  • Knowledge of optimal ESG organizational structure and identifying relevant challenges with ESG implementation
  • Experience with incorporating ESG issues in procurement and contractual negotiations
  • Proven history of identifying and prioritizing strategic ESG initiatives
  • Monitoring ESG trends across several large projects and advising across asset classes on ESG ‘lessons learned’ between projects
  • Providing training to investment management team on key actions relating to ESG that need to be taken.

We expect you to be enthusiastic for ESG, HSE and responsible investment, have a positive personality, just like you are working individually and have a “can-do” attitude.

CISC offers an attractive compensation package and advanced career prospects both locally and globally. You should expect some travelling as the team is supporting CIP’s funds globally.
